January – March, 2012
We were thrilled to be contacted by one of our supporters, whose daughter had successfully nominated us at her school for one of their charity events – here’s what she says about it:
“My name is Sonam Shinhmar. When I was five years old my mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour however all I knew was that she was not very well and I didn’t have any knowledge of this illness at the time. I was terrified for my mum and what she was going through, fortunately for us a few years later she had surgery and is making good recovery.
Now I am fourteen years old with a better understanding of brain tumours and also a charity rep at my high school, I decided to choose BTRC to be our schools next chosen charity as I wanted to raise awareness for brain tumours and of all the hard work carried out by the charity into research, since it’s not well recognised in the general public. This event took place in spring term 2012. I held a non-uniform day where each student donated £1, and also raised more money by selling the BTRC wristbands and badges. I also sold more to friends and family. I’m very proud to support this charity and help those who will benefit from research carried out by BTRC.
A total amount of £550.61 was raised.
Thanks to all who donated.
A big thank you Wendy Fulcher for supplying all the merchandise.”
